This is a book cover for the story “Coraline” by Neil Gaiman.
This was an incredibly liberating project because I believe that digital illustration is my strong suit. When creating this cover, I wanted to give it more of a painterly look to the design to stand out from my other work. I was also very intent on the layering of the subjects, trying to gain a sense of depth through layout and color. I also wanted to have every aspect of the cover reflect the book’s actual content such as the cat or the snow globe.
This book cover was made almost entirely in photoshop with slight use of illustrator for the logo and text. With this project I was given free reign to create the design, the logo, and placement of the text.
